The paranoid style of politics, amplified and made global in the digital age, sucks people into alternate realities. We cannot ignore it or give it a subtle wink and a nod. Unequivocally reject it.
This piece, sadly is filled to the brim with abusive ad hominems and summary judgements, without one shred of supporting evidence refuting the so-called "lies" of the devil. It comes across, for the most part, as nothing more than political sermonizing, and/or political psychotherapy, then anything resembling rational, evidence based, academic, political discourse.
Conservatives and right leaning types on both sides of the border fawn over Jordan Peterson and his reality rooted approach to improving your life. I'm neutral on Peterson and think he is overrated but his message of "clean up your own room first" applies to Conservatives more than any other political group.
No one else complains about media bias, no one else complains about being accusations of white supremacy/extremism, no one else whines about the system not being fair to our group. All this winging takes place in parallel with ongoing cozy relationships with media outlets and activists who foster these alternative realities.
We need to clean up our own room before we should expect Canadians to take us seriously. We need to excommunicate the groups that are driving increased polarization and 'fake news'. We need to present a viable alternative and be a government in waiting, not a collection of people whose only bond is sneering at Liberal elites and out competing each other on the crazy train.
For what it's worth, I'm one of those new subscribers and I don't think I'm bonkers. Your tweets on American cultural and political proxy wars in Canada reflect my views. From BLM to COVID to the current mess, it's preventing Canada from having important national discussions. Nice to see my own antiquated views in the wild!
Welcome! Did not mean for one second to suggest every new subscriber did so for the reasons described of course, I would love to be proven wrong and find out that nearly everyone who signed up did so because they like the pieces.
